Memory Foam Pillow Care: A Simple Guide

Allow the shape to settle after unpacking

If your pillow arrives compressed during shipping, remove the packaging and allow it to return toward its intended shape before use, following any instructions supplied with the product. Do not try to accelerate this process with high heat.

Protect the foam core

Use a clean pillowcase or protector where appropriate. Wash any outer layer only according to its own label. Keeping moisture, oils, and cosmetic products away from the foam reduces the need for deeper cleaning.

Do not wash the foam core unless the label says to

Unless the product label explicitly permits it, do not place the foam core in a washing machine or dryer, soak it, or saturate it. Memory foam can absorb water deeply and may be difficult to dry.

Spot-clean only when the label permits

For a small mark, follow the supplied care instructions. Do not remove a cover unless it is designed to be removed, and avoid scrubbing, twisting, or saturating the foam. Blot gently and use the pillow only when it is completely dry.

Air-dry carefully

If the product instructions permit spot cleaning, place the pillow flat in a dry, shaded, well-ventilated area. Keep it away from direct high heat, open flames, and intense sunlight.

Refresh it between cleanings

Air the pillow out periodically and gently pat it into shape rather than folding or twisting it. Avoid storing it in a sealed bag while it still holds moisture.

Store with care

If you need to store the pillow, make sure it is clean and fully dry. Place it flat in a dry area and avoid heavy objects, tight folding, or long-term compression that could affect the contour.

Know what is normal

Slow-rebound memory foam responds to pressure and temperature, so feel can vary with the environment. It returns toward its shape gradually after use. Individual comfort varies.

A quick weekly routine

• Wash the pillowcase or any supplied cover only as directed by its label.
• Inspect the pillow for moisture or spills.
• Air it in a shaded, ventilated place when appropriate.
• Return it to the orientation that feels most comfortable.
• Keep sharp objects and direct heat away from the foam.
